SINGLE SESSIONS

Single session therapy is an opportunity to experience one session with a counsellor. It may be useful when there is a specific problem that needs to be explored or discussed with someone other than family or friend. You might even be testing counselling or talking therapy for the first time.

Single therapy session involves:

  • Brief questionnaire about your concerns

  • 90 minute face-to-face session (at home, a mutual place or online)

  • Follow up phone call about 2 weeks later to discuss the concern and about further support

  • No commitment to ongoing sessions, if that’s your choice

  • Opportunity to still meet for one-off sessions

  • $150/hour (paid at the end of the session)

When can I see a counsellor?

Generally, weekends or other times by appointment.

OLDER PEOPLE

Supporting you through subsidised care

The aged care system is a little different to the NDIS. Access to counselling under aged care varies, depending on the type of aged care services a person receives.

Typically, counselling can be provided under your Home Care Package.

Counselling is not covered under the Home Support Program (HSP), so you may access the service either (1) as a private client, or (2) check if your Medibank Plan covers counselling.

My fee is guided by the NDIS Price Guide which currently sets individual counselling at $156/session. We can discuss costs before the first session.

I offer face-to-face service in-home or a mutually agreed place, as well as video and tele-counselling.

NDIS PARTICIPANTS

Supporting you through the NDIS

NDIS service providers vary across type of service and size of business.

NDIS registered providers meet strict government quality and safety requirements. If your NDIS funding is NDIA-managed, you can only use NDIS registered providers for a counselling service.

If you self-manage or have a Plan Manager, you can use registered providers and non-registered providers.

As a registered NDIS provider, I provide Counselling under Therapeutic Supports. The NDIS Price Guide currently prices individual counselling at $156/session. We can discuss costs before the first session.

I offer face-to-face service in-home or a mutually agreed place, as well as video and tele-counselling.

If your plan doesn't cover counselling or funds are inadequate for the service, we can still talk about counselling as a valuable support to guide you.
