Supporting you through subsidized care
The aged care system is a little different to the NDIS. Packages of care are managed by registered organisations with the Department of Health. Residential facilities are managed by a company, corporation, religious organisation and so on. Older adults may contribute to the costs of care.
A provider, like a counsellor, is not registered with any Department except with a relevant association.
If you need a little support to manage your every day concerns and want to talk to a counsellor, you may be able to access counselling through your Package or through your residential facility. You or your family should discuss this service as well as reimbursement of costs with your Care Provider.
Counselling sessions can be delivered in-home, in-facility or at a mutually agreed place. The cost for counselling will vary, depending on frequency, distance and the person's situation. You can expect to pay up to $150/session with reduced costs for those unable to pay, in agreement with your Care Provider.
