Offering help

If someone you know is going through a difficult time, it can be hard to know how to help them. Starting the conversation about offering help can be difficult. Questions to ask may be ones such as, I am worried about you. Would you like to talk? Is there something I can help you with? Talking with you or someone else may help the person feel less alone and perhaps give them a different perspective on the problem they are facing (BACP 2018). #carolinecounselling #counsellingforchange #change

Grief and loss in a cemetery

I recently listened to a podcast about yoga, walking and conversation with one other as another way to approach grief. The activities, while not unusual, are held in a cemetery! Yes, Springvale Botanic Gardens. The Gardens have adopted a unique approach to living and dying, loss and grief, connection and disconnection – in a space more associated with death than life! I wrote to my local Cemeteries about adopting the idea. #carolinecounselling #counsellingforchange
